Tours of the College’s original 14th-century campus run daily, focusing on the school’s history and medieval architecture.
Highlights of the tour usually include the College’s medieval Chamber Court, the 14th-century Gothic chapel, College Hall, the medieval Cloisters, and the 17th-century redbrick schoolroom.
College tours last for one hour and are currently running at the slightly earlier times of 13.45 and 15.00 every day. We return to our normal tour times of 14.15 and 15.30 on 19th January. Please note that the College will be closed from 24th December to 1st January inclusive.

This tour allows a rare opportunity to view two medieval rooms which house the school’s archives, as well as documents and artefacts relating to the school’s history which will be on display. Tours are delivered by our College Archivist, Suzanne.

Explore the treasures of Winchester College’s collections, including works of art and rare books that are not normally on public display.
Visitors will explore the College’s original museum and art gallery and part of the Fellows’ Library where there is a changing display of rare books and manuscripts, prints, and drawings.

Winchester College’s War Cloister is the largest private war memorial in Europe.
These thought-provoking tours bring to life the stories of the pupils and teachers from Winchester who died in both World Wars and subsequent conflicts, who are remembered in War Cloister. The tours also explores the architecture, symbolism, and impact of War Cloister today.
War Cloister is an integral part of the school and is in use daily by our pupils.
War Cloister tours last for one hour and run once per month.

Led by members of the Winchester College gardening team, these tours explore the vast biodiversity and horticultural history of the beautiful hidden gardens of Winchester College. This includes a look at a traditional college ‘quad’, a quiet sitting garden for the old College sick house, the tranquil gardens of the College’s war memorial, and the ‘Warden’s Garden’ with its herbaceous borders, woodland, and private section of one of the most famous chalk streams in the world.
Garden tours last for approximately 2 hours and run once per month between April and September.
We welcome private group bookings for all our tours, for up to 60 guests, subject to availability. We frequently welcome special interest groups as well as local and international schools.
