The entrance to the College and to the Treasury museum is the Porters’ Lodge on College Street, Winchester, SO23 9NA. All guided tour start at the Porters’ Lodge.

To find the College on foot from the centre of Winchester, follow signs to the Cathedral and walk through the Cathedral Close to St Swithun’s Street. Then turn left under Kingsgate Arch and bear left into College Street. The Porters’ Lodge can be found on the right hand side.

Access for specific events such as our public lecture series will be noted in your booking confirmation.

Parking is limited around the College and there is no parking onsite. Visitors are advised to use public transport, the Park and Ride, or city centre car parks.

Blue badge holders can park on College Street or College Walk free of charge, subject to available spaces.

Members of the public can visit the College by joining a guided tour or by visiting our Treasury museum. For safeguarding reasons, visitors cannot visit the rest of the school unaccompanied. Public events are also held throughout the year, including talks, open garden weekends and concerts.

If you are an Old Wykehamist and want to visit the College privately, please contact the Winchester College Society who can arrange this for you.

Please note that Winchester College is a non-smoking site. We also do not allow any pets onsite other than assistance dogs.

Treasury and our College tours are open to the public 7 days a week, all year round, except for during our Christmas closure period. This year we will close from 24 December- 1 January inclusive. We will re-open on 2 January.

Our tours are currently running every day at the earlier times of 1.45pm and 3.00pm to accommodate the reduced daylight hours.

Treasury is open every day from 2-4pm.

Treasury is open from 2-4pm, 7 days a week, except for during our Christmas break. Entry is free.

Tours of the College’s original medieval campus run twice a day throughout the year, except for during our Christmas break. We also have a range of specialist tours that run once per month each.

Due to the historic nature of the site, some of our venues are not easily accessible for those with mobility restrictions. Please get in touch with us to discuss your requirements. We will do everything we can to accommodate your needs.

Three of the four galleries in the Treasury museum are wheelchair accessible and a disabled toilet is available in the museum.
