BUILDINGS, HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE

Winchester College is fortunate to maintain eighteen Grade I, six Grade II* and over seventy Grade II listed buildings, some of which formed part of the original College site in the late 14th century. Many of these spaces are of national importance; all are in current use and many are open to the public via guided tours or public events.

JANE AUSTEN 250 CELEBRATIONS

This year we are joining the worldwide celebrations of the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth. This included opening No. 8 College Street – the house where Jane Austen spent her final weeks and died in 1817 – to the public for the first time, throughout Summer 2025.

There is also an exhibition in Treasury marking the anniversary year and exploring Jane Austen’s connections with Winchester College. This free exhibition is open until December 2025.
